Spirit of Christmas

After coping with moving office, two full-on photo shoots, the stresses of the Royal Mail postal strikes, unexpected delays with the second delivery of our Iris top - all during our busiest month on record at Anusha - I'm glad to be saying goodbye to October!

Spirit of Christmas
Next week I'm looking forward to taking Anusha to the Spirit of Christmas fair. Taking place at Olympia in London from 7th to 11th November, it features 600 fantastic companies that have been picked by House & Garden magazine. It's the third year Anusha has exhibited at the show, and it's a fun start to the festive season.

Come and see us at stand C90, where we'll be selling a selection of our best-selling party clothes, accessories, loungewear and gifts galore!

Getting into mischief

forfeit cookies

Fancy being a little mischievous? This week sees the welcome return of MissChief's forfeit cookies at Anusha.

Perfect for livening up a dinner party, wedding reception or Christmas get-together, each box contains 12 delicious, chocolate-dipped wafer cookies. Break open a cookie, and it reveals a piece of paper with one of 200 cheeky forfeits inside.

So, with a little help from MissChief, you could find yourself serenading the person sitting next to you with the love song of their choice; re-enacting the scene from your favourite film; performing a belly dance; inviting someone at the table to tell an embarrassing story about you; acting like a monkey...

Coming soon - part 2

slipper socks

Because we've sourced so many lovely new goodies for the Christmas collection at Anusha, we've decided to squeeze in an extra photo shoot at the end of this week.

Look out for sweet teacup candles; vibrant, Kashmir-style painted tin votives, tealight holders and bowls; rose petal garlands in cream, lilac and soft pink; chunky costume jewellery to finish off your party outfits; cosy angora gloves in black, dark grey and cream; and gold reindeer-shaped tealights (fabulously kitsch - I know you'll love them!).

The butterflies are back!

We've just taken delivery of our new, improved feather butterfly garlands - online now at Anusha. After testing out several new varieties (oh yes, we take these things very seriously!), we decided that this beautiful hand-painted version is by far the best around.

Strung on invisible wire, each butterfly has a 10cm wing span and is divided by a drop crystal, giving it a good weight. Try draping the garland on a mirror (tip: a little Blu Tack helps to keep the butterflies in place), winding round a bedstead, adorning a party table or hanging in a child's bedroom... wherever you want to add a whimsical touch.

Available in soft pink, lilac (limited stock), antique cream and duck egg blue, these beauties come in a sturdy box to keep them safe as they wing their way through the post to you...

Best of Bath 1: Vintage to Vogue

As many of you know, Anusha is based in Bath. I'm often asked for insider info on my favourite haunts in the city, so I'm going to start an occasional series of my pick of some of the best things to do, and places to go in Bath - all within easy walking distance of the city centre, most involving my favourite past-times of eating out and rummaging in second-hand shops!

My first choice is Vintage To Vogue. Tucked away in an alleyway off Milsom Street (the main shopping street in Bath), this tiny shop is crammed to the rafters with a great collection of vintage clothes, accessories, jewellery, textiles and lace. Specialising in finds from the '30s, '40s and '50s, there are also some exquisite pieces that date back to the mid-1800s. Do you enjoy digging around looking for vintage gems? Then this is the perfect shop for you...

Where: 28 Milsom St, Bath BA1 1DG (01225 337323).
When: Tues to Sat 10.30am-5pm.

A mannequin-free zone

It's been a hectic end to an incredibly busy week at Anusha. Today we finished photographing our new collection of Christmas gifts and accessories for the website (only 73 shopping days to go!).

I've always wanted Anusha's photographs to be inspirational, and the aim is to show off the beautiful collection looking its best. Although it would be the easy option, my pet hate is seeing websites with cut-out products against a stark, white background and clothes displayed on creepy, headless mannequins!

I source props and style the images on the Anusha photo shoots, but the real talent lies with the wonderful Anusha photographer.

The first part of the Christmas collection will be online soon - sign up for Anusha news to be the first to know.

No more WAGs' elbow

embroidered purses

Here's a sneak preview of a couple of the new styles of purses and evening bags that are going online at Anusha soon. We've got foldover clutches, vintage-inspired crochet evening bags, intricately embroidered purses and more.

Want to avoid the dreaded WAGs' elbow caused by dragging round those everything-but-the-kitchen-sink, oversize totes? We prescribe carrying a cool clutch from Anusha instead!

House & Garden

If you're a reader of House & Garden magazine, you may have noticed the NotOnTheHighStreet winter catalogue drop out of this month's special 60th anniversary issue.

This 68-page catalogue is packed with inspiring gifts that you won't find on the high street, and I'm delighted that it includes a lovely selection of some of Anusha's most popular items on pages 50 and 51.

I've got some catalogues with me here - if you'd like a free copy, drop me a line with your name and address at

Royal Mail strike

Royal Mail workers have begun two 48-hour stoppages, which will mean little/no post until Wednesday 10th October.

Royal Mail strike

Although we'll continue to send out your Anusha orders, inevitably the strikes will have a severe effect on delivery times. We apologise sincerely for the inconvenience this causes, and hope that the dispute can be resolved shortly.

If you have any questions, please email me at or call 01225 421 444.
