Buy of the Day

scarf and beret

Thanks to Carla Bevan at for making our Clarissa dress her Buy of the Day.

As she said: "Party frocks are flooding the high street right now, but not all are made equal. We adore the grown-up, Forties-inspired styling of this crepe design, which features gently puffed shoulders and gorgeous three-quarter length sleeves. Leave the prom dresses to the young ones, and go for elegant this season, instead."

Sweet table display

table display

I'm a fan of high tea, so I really like this pretty table display, which I found on Martha Stewart.

The centrepiece is created by putting small cake stands on top of larger ones, and then decorating them with vintage-style teacups and votive holders filled with miniature African violets and stacks of simple biscuits tied with ribbon.

It could be adapted easily to make it more christmasy...

We love Perfect Wedding magazine...

...and they love Anusha!

Not only did one of their readers take the time to write in, recommending us in their letters' page (We love Anusha!):

perfect wedding1

But the magazine's wedding reception guru, Holly, also recommended our flower garland a few pages on: 'Whether you’re getting married in winter, spring, summer or autumn, your reception should be a real party, filled with unique touches. For tables, I love this Antique Cream Flower Garland, which can be draped around centrepieces for a vintage touch.'

Beautiful tiles

I love these tiles from Fired Earth.

Inspired by chinoiserie wall patterns of the early 19th century, the Chelsworth range is the first of a new series to come from the studios of Alice Gibbons, and it's the result of her collaboration with decorative artist Adam Calkin.

Individual tiles can be combined to form a beautiful 'wallpaper' of tiles.

Farewell pigs...

In Bath this summer, we've been enjoying a public art event, King Bladud’s Pigs. Businesses across the city have sponsored life-size fibre-glass pig sculptures, which have been decorated by local artists and then placed all around the city.

The pigs are now being gathered in - they'll be displayed at a 'Farewell Pigs Event' weekend on 18th/19th October, after which they'll be auctioned off at the end of month, with proceeds going to Two Tunnels Project.

I'm very sorry to see them go - they've made me smile every day since they first arrived...
