Sublime

Tim Walker

I love this photo of Lily Cole wearing Stella McCartney on a staircase in India. Taken by Tim Walker for Vogue, it's one of many amazing (and often surreal) images in an exhibition of Walker's work on at the Design Museum until 28th September.

The Cotswold way

I've just come back from a two-day walking trip with friends. We chose the pretty Cotswold town of Painswick as our base, which was perfect for discovering some truly beautiful English countryside - wild meadows, crystal-clear streams, shady woods and honey-coloured villages. Classic Laurie Lee country.

After the first day's walk, we had a much-needed drink at Cotswolds88 Hotel, spending an hour or so in the garden, enjoying the amazing view across the valley as the sun went down.

Cotswolds88

Owned by hotelier Marchella De Angelis (former rock chick and founding member of Shoreditch's Loungelover), Cotswolds88's quirky, ultra-modern interior isn't exactly my taste, but it certainly has impact, and works well in the grand spaces of the stunning Palladian house.

Cotswolds88-2
It’s been tipped to become the latest country house hotel for the London 'it-crowd' (whatever that is), but we were the only people rattling around on the Sunday night we visited. Even more surprisingly (and annoying because we were going to ask to have a snoop around a couple of the bedrooms), the hotel had a closed sign on the door when we went back for tea the next day.

Perhaps they saw us coming...

Picnic in the park

picnic

Today marked the first outing for my new picnic basket. Mr Anusha and I had planned to drive out to the countryside, but hunger meant we chose somewhere closer to home – we grabbed some food, bought a picnic rug in town and popped down to our local park.

Can’t really complain about the view…

As recommended by…

dress

Thanks so much to Lucy at Marieclaire.co.uk for featuring our gorgeous Evie dress as their Buy of the Day. As she says: 'If online boutique Anusha isn't already on your style radar, then now is the time to become acquainted... The Evie embroidered silk dress could be the perfect outfit for anyone on the hunt for summer wedding looks. With pretty cutwork detailing, it has an ultra-flattering shape, with a deep V-neck and angel sleeves.'

I couldn't agree more! To avoid disappointment, I recommend buying yours now - we've just had a top-up delivery, but when this batch has sold out, we're not planning to get any more in.

Have a lovely weekend!

Looking forward to autumn!

In the past few weeks I've been busy finalising the autumn/winter collection (it feels rather strange – and hot – trying on chunky knits in this weather!).

We've got gorgeously grown-up dresses, tops and knitwear in black, damson, pewter, teal, mink and Russian plum, plus a dash of sparkle for the party season.

We're introducing some fab new designers for autumn, which is always exciting. Watch this space...

Mellow yellow

dress

The sun's due to come out to play this weekend (it's certainly a beautiful morning here in Bath!), which means we can finally start wearing some of our lovely summer clothes. And, just in time, the second shipment of our gloriously summery buttermilk and mink Sophie top has arrived.

It's online and available to order now. Hurrah!

Back from France

France must have realised I was celebrating a milestone birthday, as it very kindly protected my skin from the damaging effects of the sun – it stayed cloudy/rainy for most of our holiday!

Despite the disappointing weather (sadly no swimming or breakfast on the terrace), Mr Anusha and I had a lovely time exploring the countryside around Nice and Cannes. We used an American guide book we found in our room, Karen Brown's France B&B, which has suggested routes for the different areas of France it covers. Clear and easy to use, I'd definitely use her books again.

I always think it’s a good sign when you start planning a return visit for the next year, and we've decided to head a little bit along the coast to Provence for summer 2009!
