Limited editions

We've got of couple of lovely pre-order items that have just gone online at Anusha.

tara dress

If you liked last season's Evie dress, you're going to love this gorgeous deep grape update! It features all the same attention to detail, but it's been adapted and improved for autumn/winter - longer sleeves, slightly higher neckline, longer length and just a touch more beading and embroidery.

tara top

The Tara top in deep inky blue with turquoise embroidery, cutwork and beading, features a silk tie, which can be tied at the back to create the perfect fit.

The Duchess

autumn1

I went to see The Duchess with a friend yesterday.

I think Keira Knightley's performance as Georgina Spencer is okay, but there's no depth to her character (I'm never hugely convinced by Knightley, as I'm always very aware that she's acting). I also think the film has been spoilt by the hype and constant parallels between the Duke/Duchess and Charles/Diana (note the poster's tagline, ‘There were three people in her marrage').

On the plus side, Ralph Fiennes puts in a great performance as the repressed William; the set design, costumes and lighting are all gorgeous; and, as is so often the case with period dramas, there are a few shots of Bath (which caused a small ripple of delight in the cinema!).

All in all, a pleasant enough piece of period fluff to pass a couple of hours on a rainy Tuesday evening...

1977: Punk at the Fashion Museum

dress of the year

The Fashion Museum in Bath is showing an exhibition, 1977: Punk at the Fashion Museum, which focuses on the relationship between music and style.

The display includes photos of The Clash, Debbie Harry, Buzzcocks, The Rezillos, X-Ray Spex, Siouxie and the Banshees, Ian Dury, Hugh Cornwell and Elvis Costello. Taken by young photographers of the day, the images were originally printed in NME, Melody Maker and Sounds.

Although I was only nine in 1977, my sister, who's six years older than me, was into punk and new wave music at the time.

In this era of The X-Factor, the 1977 exhibition is a breath of fresh air (and has led me to spend rather too long on YouTube, taking a trip down memory lane... it's been great singing along to X-Ray Spex again!).

Watch the birdies!

We've added lots of lovely new gifts, accessories and Jewellery this week at Anusha.

I particularly like these sweet sequin birdies - great for decorating a party table, adding a girlie touch to a fridge (these clever little things are magnetic too!) or adorning a child's bedroom.
