Anusha makeover!

Next season there are going to be some changes at Anusha. We're spending the summer creating a new site, with lots of improvements – both behind the scenes and 'front of house'.

As well as the website changes, I've also decided to tweak the collection a little bit, expanding on more of the things I know you love. Over the past few months I've been busy finalising the AW11 selections and sourcing lots of exclusive new designers (including some fabulous vintage-style dresses from a cool New York boutique). Very excited!

Holburne reopens

After three years of closure, the Holburne museum in Bath has finally reopened. The new extension, designed by Eric Parry Architects, sits at the back of the neoclassical building. It's made up of three layers: the bottom third is transparent; the middle third is layered ceramic and glass; and the top layer is solid ceramic. Parry wanted to increase the relationship with the gardens at the back, which is why he chose the glass and dark green ceramic to echo and reflect the trees in the park. I think it works really well.

Had a very nice Saturday afternoon with friends – lunch in the new café, a look around the new gallery space, and a bit of afternoon sun in the park. And all of this is less than ten minutes from my house!

SJP at Cannes

I love Sarah Jessica Parker's beautiful printed crepe georgette dress she wore on the red carpet at Cannes this week – yet another gorgeous creation from Elie Saab's autumn/winter ready-to-wear collection:

Scrapwood wallpaper

As fans of Anusha will have noticed, I love the colour and texture of peeling paint on wood – I often use it in my photo shoots...

...which is why this Scrapwood wallpaper by Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek caught my eye. Love it!

Way out West

Had lovely weekend, making the most of what the West Country has to offer, and visiting a couple of new places to eat in the area.

On Saturday we had a coffee in Bradford on Avon, walked along the river, and then went to the recently opened Archangel bar/restaurant/hotel in Frome for a bite to eat (interesting industrial-chic building, sunny courtyard but rather disappointing food). We came back to Bath to catch the afternoon viewing of Hanna.

Yesterday we drove a few miles out of Bath to Holt and walked around the village before having lunch at the Glove Factory café, which serves delicious (and good value) homemade salads, sandwiches and cakes. Our final stop on our West Country tour was an early evening drink with friends by the canal at Bathampton, just before the rain came!

My highlight of the weekend was the Glove Factory – as well as having a lovely café, it also houses several studios for creative, small businesses that are set around a pretty courtyard with breathtaking views of the countryside. I'm very tempted to move the Anusha offices out there:

Little White Lies

Went to see Little White Lies this week. Directed by Guillame Canet, this French comedy/drama tells the story of a group of Parisian friends who decide to go on their annual holiday in the South of France, despite the near-fatal accident of one of their friends, Ludo, shortly before they’re due to leave.

This is a film about secrets rather than lies, and it certainly has its flaws (reviews seem to be very divided about it), but we enjoyed it – interesting characters, gorgeous location (Cap Ferret) and strong performances.
