Woman Talking



I was interviewed recently by Carrie Greene at Women Talking, a website featuring online shopping, fashion, beauty, health, parenting, business, careers and relationships.

Carrie asked me about how I set up Anusha, where I shop, how I select stock, my plans for the future, and any advice I can give other women who are keen to start their own business.

I really enjoyed having the opportunity to chat about the business – it reminded me just how much I love running Anusha. Thanks Carrie!

Senna



Went to see Senna last night. Directed by Asif Kapadia, it’s a documentary film about Ayrton Senna, the Brazilian Formula One racing driver who died at 34, after a crash in the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

The film is based on footage taken from hundreds of hours of newsreel, material from the Formula One archives and previously unseen home movies from Senna’s family. Not tempted to see it? You don't need to know anything about motor racing to enjoy this film. I really, really recommend it – Senna was a fascinating character and it’s an exhilarating, inspiring, tragic film.

Linguine with prawns and mussels



I made this from the Two Greedy Italians cookbook last night. Really quick and delicious. To make things even easier, I just used mussels in white wine that you can buy in a vacuum pack at the supermarket. I also added extra chilli to give it more of a kick. Tempted to cook it again tonight!

Ingredients:

500g/1lb 2oz mussels
250g/9oz whole raw prawns
6 tbsp olive oil
1 garlic clove, crushed
½ red chilli, finely sliced
50ml/2fl oz white wine
1 lemon, juice only
small bunch flatleaf parsley, roughly chopped
400g/14oz fresh linguine
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Preparation:

Clean the mussels by scrubbing them in cold water, and removing the beards. If any remain open after tapping them against the side of the work surface, discard them. Peel the prawns, removing the heads but leaving the tails intact.

Heat the olive oil in a large lidded saucepan, and add the garlic and chilli. After a minute or two, add the mussels and the wine. Cover with the lid and continue cooking for 1-2 minutes, or until the mussels open. If any mussels remain closed at the end of cooking, discard them.

Add the prawns and cook for a further 4–5 minutes, then squeeze in the lemon juice. Remove the pan from the heat and add the roughly chopped parsley. Season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Meanwhile, cook the linguine in lightly salted boiling water for 7-8 minutes, or until al dente. Add the pasta to the pan with the shellfish sauce, mix together well and serve immediately.

Pinterest

I've just started using Pinterest. If you haven't heard of it, this is how its creators describe it:

"Think of Pinterest as a virtual pinboard — a place where you can create collections of things you love and 'follow' collections created by people with great taste."

Basically, it's a really nifty way of keeping all those images that you come across online, in one place – perfect for creating housey mood boards, grouping photography ideas, picking out style inspirations etc. And, when you use the 'Pin it' bookmark to grab an image from a website, it automatically grabs the source link as well, so you can credit the original creator.

I recommend it – it's easy and fun to use (and really rather addictive!).
